Mission Team to Haiti
Associated Churches is responding to the earthquake
that devastated Haiti
last week. Trip dates
are April 13 - 22, 2010. The team being
developed will include doctors, construction workers
and care givers led by Rev. Dan Layden, St. Albans
Episcopal Church.

With the goal of giving and receiving information from our 126 member congregations, Associated Churches is excited to invite two or three members of your congregation to attend a Member Meal. We anticipate holding meals throughout the year and congregations can attend repeatedly if desired. Currently we have scheduled the following days: RSVP would be appreciated 422-3528.

In 2008 the USDA reported that 14.6% of all U. S.
households were at low or very
low food security. Applying that percentage to Indiana
means that 350,400
households , and on average, 3,800 households per county
are hungry. Statistics
indicate that 21% of all the children in Indiana are
going hungry.
IPCUM believe God has called us to Feed Indiana.
Congregations Feeding Indi-
ana: People, Pantries, Participation is an opportunity
for outreach or mission
committees, ministry teams, clergy, congregational lay
leadership, anyone who
feels called to fight hunger in Indiana. This ecumenical
event will inspire, inform
and equip churches to help Feed Indiana in new,
significant ways.

Walking the Walk with the Hungry (advocacy ministries)
Advocacy is an important part of Hunger Ministry.
Speaking up for the hungry
moves us beyond the short-term responses into long-term
solutions and a
world that will no longer have people who are food
deficient. Learn about
strategies and resources for adding advocacy to your
local hunger ministry
The ABC’s of Hunger Ministries
Learn the basics of how to set up a new ministry -
demographics, ministry
needs, social agencies in your area, where can you best
help within the realm
of your resources and how to get started. There will
some discussion about
best practices, networking and organizing.
Where City Meets Country (urban/rural ministries)
Learn how urban and rural churches can partner to grow
food and raise funds
to feed the hungry. Churches from very different
settings, backgrounds and
denominations can work together to eradicate hunger.
Relationships are built
and ministry flourishes. You might even find a church
who wants to partner .

One Tomato at a Time (backyard gardening)
A community garden can provide an important ministry for
your church and neighbor-
hood including leadership, interfaith, and
inter-generational opportunities, all the
while contributing to hunger relief and food security.
Paying the Bill for Hunger Relief (funding)
Financial resources are always an issue. How do we raise
the funds we need? Where
can we find grant money? Government money? How do we
request help? How do
we write grants?
Expanding the Food Closet: Pantries
How to set up and run a Food Pantry in your church
When You Google Hunger (internet resources)
The Internet is a treasure trove of information,
resources and inspiration on any
subject you can think of. The Internet can also be
overwhelming, frustrating and just
plain scary. Learn how to use the internet to help in
your hunger ministry. Bring your
laptop (with a wireless card or receiver) and learn as
you listen.
An agency Market Place will provide information,
potential programs and networking. There will be time to
network with other churches attending as well.
