Have a magical err blessed day!

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ.". I Thessalonians 5:18.

My daughters really, really, really, really love all things Disney. I, on the other hand, do not. I struggle when I go to Disney world. Someone always wants me to have a magical day. "What is that?" I jokingly wonder. It seems like a lot of pressure to me! I am kind of a simple (but sarcastic) guy. We pay them don't we? It seems to me that they put a lot of pressure on us to have a magical day. If we don't, then well they tried. We just didn't have as much fun as we could have. Of course I am being silly with this. However, it is true that we often try to force things in life. We want life to be fun, magical, and profound all of the time. We feel like we have to do something special to make things happen. We desire special magical moments so much that we miss the simple wonderful blessings all around us.

The spiritual life is more about paying attention to blessings than craving magical moments. We are to give thanks in (not for) all circumstances. It is God's will for us to honor our emotions while looking for the gifts. Spiritual Presents at Associated Churches desires that everyone increases their awareness of God's presence. One way is through trained spiritual companions. SC's help us to listen, laugh, ponder, cry, pray, and discuss life's journey. Another way is to find a trusted prayer partner. We are all called to look for blessings, and be a blessing to others. God is always our guide and our gift.
